He started with an interview with Jon Tewksbury for the Sunday Funnies show while I conversed with a group of my students shooting in the hallways. Afterwards William printed the remaining strips of wallpaper for his exhibition (needs to install it on April 5, so the clock is ticking). It is a job that needs a minimum of two people. I would hold the paper straight has he rolled images onto it. The two of us would then move the 10-12 foot strip of paper to a spot on a wall to dry. The lack of smooth handle on his printing roller has nearly disabled his hand, which will be trouble for him to finish all the other tasks. "Fortunately" the next three days will be filled with essay writing instead of art creating. <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHWDuTvk2D_D-vPpHUG72-djeB7MiWvjqX1UVFFtaSxPRj7QfpF6UV79yv7N5ggJXwzPST9Ruo8w5Xgkru9uRyMFHRGPR8l0yFn4K-sJexIGJNIf8OVh5T8ZTBctUGlmIKRbz-nI3x3kgkzBVYFTM34Ay9pVhRODjWoY7yhMfh-ucFAi1KIBujbDEePgD/s4160/20240324_142148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHWDuTvk2D_D-vPpHUG72-djeB7MiWvjqX1UVFFtaSxPRj7QfpF6UV79yv7N5ggJXwzPST9Ruo8w5Xgkru9uRyMFHRGPR8l0yFn4K-sJexIGJNIf8OVh5T8ZTBctUGlmIKRbz-nI3x3kgkzBVYFTM34Ay9pVhRODjWoY7yhMfh-ucFAi1KIBujbDEePgD/s320/20240324_142148.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-50407272600519491522024-03-23T20:20:00.009-06:002024-03-23T20:26:44.058-06:00Carfac meeting<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi53rbrZpjYX0RqljYHCMFMoSIeMTaFISwHPh7le7Xa4oaAz_wpErfHu32nR5z217dLW-aag9MUl2322HrzOHl8-_j-7ZKZ33p79KaWLfoVtDyD2Jb34Yo18K27D9QmWAVkc56C4D8UR60KrSBLnpyT5oRd05JtkRqHNpcUBMPIRBWIC_AZpMZdvPB63fkN/s10018/20240323_171205.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1597" data-original-width="10018" height="88" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi53rbrZpjYX0RqljYHCMFMoSIeMTaFISwHPh7le7Xa4oaAz_wpErfHu32nR5z217dLW-aag9MUl2322HrzOHl8-_j-7ZKZ33p79KaWLfoVtDyD2Jb34Yo18K27D9QmWAVkc56C4D8UR60KrSBLnpyT5oRd05JtkRqHNpcUBMPIRBWIC_AZpMZdvPB63fkN/w551-h88/20240323_171205.jpg" width="551" /></a></div>Mid-term review of the Carfac mentorships today in Regina. We covered a number of topics before getting into some ideas about writing a character based on a performer and then adapting the story around the character. I think that I made this make sense, but possibly my students have learned to just go along with whatever bs I am spinning that day. In the end, we wrote a script and then had only 20 minutes to shoot it, and had lost the studio and greenscreen. <p></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-82910769447041769852024-03-18T18:36:00.001-06:002024-03-23T20:00:11.526-06:00LED Volume Wall opens<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvqrVYOHh2lXXGxPDAPZHtVj9w3wuNyosu6NbfPgPT4r-JRQMaVxkW3Q6VAMMg17qo5ShB9DqJ6XYTqyy53qRwQG49Rd0SMAfprAqLdzC3sKvKgNqz1hRrEd9XtsxIEOP0gpkYcuOZN2IYOijr4Ndg9OqricOo82JkWS5m3fMZOz-I1EBuqrPmUvf_-aeD/s4160/20240318_102435.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvqrVYOHh2lXXGxPDAPZHtVj9w3wuNyosu6NbfPgPT4r-JRQMaVxkW3Q6VAMMg17qo5ShB9DqJ6XYTqyy53qRwQG49Rd0SMAfprAqLdzC3sKvKgNqz1hRrEd9XtsxIEOP0gpkYcuOZN2IYOijr4Ndg9OqricOo82JkWS5m3fMZOz-I1EBuqrPmUvf_-aeD/s320/20240318_102435.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8cqeVri0VsBqoev6eKq3VJ8qYVassjwcZIlgHAHXRi74Yod3nWazPlCi3OO_KC1BXRhOnm5q0sggLUf30GiFdtAliYUwHpbxBZH5W0WSzp7g6UGrb1vD5G1CJJgtdvZpN5XDU3m6dvXe7ZSFLAODRmyJYl4Jp5e09H5QsQc3GgenBiAdkJxKFdEEGL-g2/s4160/20240318_100858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8cqeVri0VsBqoev6eKq3VJ8qYVassjwcZIlgHAHXRi74Yod3nWazPlCi3OO_KC1BXRhOnm5q0sggLUf30GiFdtAliYUwHpbxBZH5W0WSzp7g6UGrb1vD5G1CJJgtdvZpN5XDU3m6dvXe7ZSFLAODRmyJYl4Jp5e09H5QsQc3GgenBiAdkJxKFdEEGL-g2/s320/20240318_100858.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB7tN3hemU3h75fE-s2iBcpE6gG32WaXW1hzqdrEFjL6hgSQFPkpHmJ-DrKpO7vPCzHAoeHTBHSSwIlL3A2prP6YnFq3Sv_ggE6uu3ym24nBsRFFmfiTWf0f_OLCkSwq5A23l676ae0kruLINqommM2P-qxCt-mDQM6rc4smbGjCtHrGRYswUq4JvHTT4U/s8980/20240318_094705.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1781" data-original-width="8980" height="63" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB7tN3hemU3h75fE-s2iBcpE6gG32WaXW1hzqdrEFjL6hgSQFPkpHmJ-DrKpO7vPCzHAoeHTBHSSwIlL3A2prP6YnFq3Sv_ggE6uu3ym24nBsRFFmfiTWf0f_OLCkSwq5A23l676ae0kruLINqommM2P-qxCt-mDQM6rc4smbGjCtHrGRYswUq4JvHTT4U/s320/20240318_094705.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiufHe60CwZujoG0Bou30KEekYDwEfYortgHcf8hTcMGugJU9F5qkw3nafh6XWQn2lb2iJTjExi5Pn1-7bXkBTrGqLsNwLUElsmunXzKfV5IgEfPBDBcIP2EcOd0VmlbOMeaHwfKJdq7z_go-HhxIWyqX94h3S2ZqmvDZRjeWb9ZqZE85CxtSKx_qdg7dxe/s5096/20240318_094309.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2418" data-original-width="5096" height="152" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiufHe60CwZujoG0Bou30KEekYDwEfYortgHcf8hTcMGugJU9F5qkw3nafh6XWQn2lb2iJTjExi5Pn1-7bXkBTrGqLsNwLUElsmunXzKfV5IgEfPBDBcIP2EcOd0VmlbOMeaHwfKJdq7z_go-HhxIWyqX94h3S2ZqmvDZRjeWb9ZqZE85CxtSKx_qdg7dxe/s320/20240318_094309.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Attended the opening of the LED Valume wall at the Soundstage today. It was green and minty and probably the best thing they ever invented. <br /> <p></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-2279273945075163142024-03-16T18:26:00.004-06:002024-03-23T18:27:15.771-06:00William in his studio. <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRg-BrfmFpxCxsHsUQWO-NEvbEllapNdpT2vbbsciTrWcWSYU8KsPxlhILzqvMIh_uNo8rrpDY93y_Jeg20WuBUkkOicvaZiB8beAw8YJTfyPqP7eNTeQEmpp9pEeeaCfxzMqKLKdDav-l2vS-CeaU8LBSROHOrICZzDA93ziOeyIKbjnDVEaSWSF8q09U/s4032/IMG_6643.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRg-BrfmFpxCxsHsUQWO-NEvbEllapNdpT2vbbsciTrWcWSYU8KsPxlhILzqvMIh_uNo8rrpDY93y_Jeg20WuBUkkOicvaZiB8beAw8YJTfyPqP7eNTeQEmpp9pEeeaCfxzMqKLKdDav-l2vS-CeaU8LBSROHOrICZzDA93ziOeyIKbjnDVEaSWSF8q09U/s320/IMG_6643.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRoi8xwZ0yQ_F2Nd5R9ozhDCElcwbf67d1j7hpEjlza58ha68u0gGJFzIRM5cs6ATT6V7pQIh0RmwtcMZmwxcbmlQJ3Auh5MQm3zt6ayVIoib5_B9mqLSBA-gz1tQZVUKAqhlCxfq7gSYaMu87kS4QiuZrIc4KmWeq5CljRWRP2AGDhC3qS61xeL6mv_U4/s4032/IMG_6641.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRoi8xwZ0yQ_F2Nd5R9ozhDCElcwbf67d1j7hpEjlza58ha68u0gGJFzIRM5cs6ATT6V7pQIh0RmwtcMZmwxcbmlQJ3Auh5MQm3zt6ayVIoib5_B9mqLSBA-gz1tQZVUKAqhlCxfq7gSYaMu87kS4QiuZrIc4KmWeq5CljRWRP2AGDhC3qS61xeL6mv_U4/s320/IMG_6641.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div><br /> Needs no words. <p></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-85988381098938126002024-03-15T18:21:00.009-06:002024-03-23T18:25:54.796-06:00Roger Ing show<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfAp8cGLc7KCZCPQOXC8n_8SljYqeApVEPcncbCBDwSR3NofHzoQTeBZQjCweIlgi1WM6m2HHFp6RXK17zpAioeATWvOZnENKdOmpi5lRqxFnlpQM5veFAv9IdItGJ5zGCtpMq2OZqjqKr02LMMv61Cue33KZJuwovEzWqwTkRj-tZXmAxiVUocIeTyG5K/s4032/IMG_6632.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfAp8cGLc7KCZCPQOXC8n_8SljYqeApVEPcncbCBDwSR3NofHzoQTeBZQjCweIlgi1WM6m2HHFp6RXK17zpAioeATWvOZnENKdOmpi5lRqxFnlpQM5veFAv9IdItGJ5zGCtpMq2OZqjqKr02LMMv61Cue33KZJuwovEzWqwTkRj-tZXmAxiVUocIeTyG5K/s320/IMG_6632.HEIC" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZXVa0OVp3Za0-5QuWcqu9GvRylBPJRNza1Jwmno9GuXnEf1F9Zr4D8g1dl5WcEQX4JW3YsclG4hJ36xGFO4sTLqg8mQpLXON-57yOeJNAXWsJV5pKyi1erUBgqr92bmgpGB_yMOw_fcSSiNHVEnWRq4X-GWyrEIMQcuPrXJQ2khOZUCE02ufvEZpwHvVy/s4032/IMG_6633.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZXVa0OVp3Za0-5QuWcqu9GvRylBPJRNza1Jwmno9GuXnEf1F9Zr4D8g1dl5WcEQX4JW3YsclG4hJ36xGFO4sTLqg8mQpLXON-57yOeJNAXWsJV5pKyi1erUBgqr92bmgpGB_yMOw_fcSSiNHVEnWRq4X-GWyrEIMQcuPrXJQ2khOZUCE02ufvEZpwHvVy/s320/IMG_6633.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div><br /> A studio at the university has been transformed into a pop up gallery called "The Corner Gallery" this semester to house assignments for Sherry's curation course. This week the student curator, Sophie Daschuk, presented a room full of borrowed Rogerisms. She'd contacted me at the beginning of the term but apparently got enough art and didn't need anything from me. Curiously, I think this is taking place in the very same room that I brought Roger to back in 1999 or 2000 when I had students in Film 200 videotape him as he worked. <p></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-26627944605567949752024-03-14T18:16:00.009-06:002024-03-23T18:21:28.909-06:00Pie Day<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzZfB8y8vLB8cNvHsVHpg7-WEywVMsftZP29wE8wtkMStZBeMLv-dCZVGGEP7aWyIFtAjDAp_QB7JCbdu6DftXA03JYGu28jutcRHODmgAj3fU-Cu88yAiLxGbxma8QoTOeRYNcBdBmAD0z29Nw2BAN5YyHCIHYH2-tvNnYfbB6I0zO85b0h_icnd-Wy9A/s4032/IMG_6624.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzZfB8y8vLB8cNvHsVHpg7-WEywVMsftZP29wE8wtkMStZBeMLv-dCZVGGEP7aWyIFtAjDAp_QB7JCbdu6DftXA03JYGu28jutcRHODmgAj3fU-Cu88yAiLxGbxma8QoTOeRYNcBdBmAD0z29Nw2BAN5YyHCIHYH2-tvNnYfbB6I0zO85b0h_icnd-Wy9A/s320/IMG_6624.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div><p>Margaret baked up four pies yesterday. One small detail of his installation is a game table and he'd wanted to have a card game going. Wanting to minimize the number of unaltered readymade items, he will be creating his own deck of cards (having abandoned creating an entire new card game, which was in the works last term). I got him some paper and took it to Robert who trimmed the stack to all the same size (about 3x4"). I said I was going to clamp them together and sand the corners round but then Robert offered his new toy, a corner cutter. Very neat tool and perfect corner in a couple minutes. Fantastic help Rob. <p></p>Gerald Saulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02353418453407041198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1497034777613280287.post-48938784128268270362024-03-11T23:25:00.012-06:002024-03-23T20:30:42.160-06:00Texture show at Fifth Parallel <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioHBcRVcMlsEjK8cwy00AkNIp_lCXCVjG7W-3XuLU64W5J651PDQYA0v6TeRLlZqcOvLq1j_lAgYEV3b38kNJyNixkuhMoIuADRrZ42Cf6mjiB5TEURaUMDvJVbogSNwXUrS_ZQQx5lWN50BW8Dq2HYGXZxZJIq8iDIkClj4SXlcZGLpnKfepX_7dq-IbU/s4160/20240312_151232.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioHBcRVcMlsEjK8cwy00AkNIp_lCXCVjG7W-3XuLU64W5J651PDQYA0v6TeRLlZqcOvLq1j_lAgYEV3b38kNJyNixkuhMoIuADRrZ42Cf6mjiB5TEURaUMDvJVbogSNwXUrS_ZQQx5lWN50BW8Dq2HYGXZxZJIq8iDIkClj4SXlcZGLpnKfepX_7dq-IbU/s320/20240312_151232.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigU_e4jE47inwR7Xhx2jLsaI7iA0WelLSlHtevJCiY_p8vNBo1VMptQ2NLnsqhzMTvdMgykRmG5w1NpR_1W0nlmB7y8olMDI9ZtvWW7xSjv8G8k5g_jItAgf_r9EbGdOvJC2pdQ08ypDOLcSvjzxyeas0Zv7H3d0iAteG8ydKnTKmZQp6kbuYW69CAcRnA/s4160/20240312_151304.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3120" data-original-width="4160" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigU_e4jE47inwR7Xhx2jLsaI7iA0WelLSlHtevJCiY_p8vNBo1VMptQ2NLnsqhzMTvdMgykRmG5w1NpR_1W0nlmB7y8olMDI9ZtvWW7xSjv8G8k5g_jItAgf_r9EbGdOvJC2pdQ08ypDOLcSvjzxyeas0Zv7H3d0iAteG8ydKnTKmZQp6kbuYW69CAcRnA/s320/20240312_151304.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Saw some interesting pieces a the student gallery today.
