Jess dropped by

Margaret is ending her term on the Board at the AGR. Jess Richter dropped in and hung out for a while on the deck. Margaret showed her how we framed the piece of work we have of hers and she was pleased.

painting

Enjoyed painting this camera. I'm down to painting only at the Balkwill it seems. Even though I know that painting helps reduce my stress, I am feeling too stressed to let myself kick back and paint.

Weather good for students

Outside in literal head at the end of September, cooking and shooting scenes I wrote with the students to learn the methods of sync sound shooting and working in a crew.

"Life goes on"

Reminded of episode of Mary Tyler Moore when they hired a film student who filmed ants instead of the fire. Was shooting outside with my Film 300 students and noticed a dead bird being consumed by wasps. Life goes on.

Geremy and daughter visit

Geremy and his daughter came over. We served some ice cream, which was a hit. Also shot a few images using Jason's four shot burst camera.

Return to painting

After a break of about 2 weeks, I got back to painting. I've been low on cameras and also been very busy with work and other stuff. Class with my sister resumed at the Balkwill.

I lent William's car to the in-class film shoot with my students today.

Quinn

Quinn got back from Switzerland last week and we finally got a chance to see him. He met up with us on campus, although there was not a cup of coffee to be bought. He had a great time on his work term there but had to confine most of his extra activities to hiking due to covid.

Tarp on gazebo

Did the math and found a tarp (at Princess Auto) to cover the gazebo roof until we have the ability to fix it.

Snake Oil

Allan, Terri, and Xander came over this evening. It had turned amazingly warm with the temperature up to 31 and it stayed warm enough to play a game on the deck until nigh midnight. Ran through the entire deck of William's new Snake Oil game that his cousin Sean bought for him as a belated birthday gift. Great fun.

Slate opening with Jeff Nachtigall

Surprised to see that Jeff is now represented by Slate. Wonderful to catch up with him without having to yell between yards. We also got a lot of amusement from Frans's miniature dumpsters.

Adventure Time

Box set, shaped like a book with stories and new illustrations on every page, for Adventure Time arrived. All ten seasons. We've seen them but have been wanting to revisit them. A lifetime of joy.

Money shot

Built a prop for the in class student film shoot. I drew the bag. Robert cut up a phone book for my bundles of money.

Video of William drawing

William has a drawing project about "performing a line". He has a few ideas and one of them, not necessarily the preferred variation, needs to be created outside in nice weather so, regardless of whether he'll hand it in or not, he performed at the back of the garage on the panels I painted white this summer (our garage will be re-built but as of now, the burned shell is still standing). Not watched this yet but am worried that it will be full of wind noise.

Digging down the street

They are re-routing some water mains on 15th Avenue. I didn't know that the mains were so big. Talked to them, Water is 18 feet down. I also finished shooting some 3D images.

Coffee with Sharon and Dad

Sharon in town just for a couple of days to visit mom and dad. We went to the Mercury for coffee and pie. Dad was facing the door and commenting on all the "girls" coming in and suggesting this is the reason I picked this as the location to meet. When I finally turned, I discovered that the "girls" probably hadn't been in school since 1970. Eye of the beholder.

Broken tooth

While the tooth I broke the other day is not causing me any pain, it appears that it has broken to below the gum line so that means major work. Love these immediate xrays. Wish I could play with this machine for a while (although it is fortunate that I cannot).

Working holiday

It was great to have a Monday holiday as I'm already behind on everything. I needed to combine the students' ideas together into a screenplay and managed to do so today: 12 page screenplay in 7 hours.

Long weekend fire

With no planning, we just threw some chairs out into the  yard and lit a fire. Very last minute. With a holiday tomorrow so we kicked back there until after midnight. Allan, Terri, and Xander came over.

Gerri Ann's cottage studio

Gerri Ann hosted tours of her studio on Saturday. We'd seen it before but wanted to visit a bit, especially since Linda was planning on arriving later in the afternoon. It's been at least 4 years since we'd had a chance to catch up.

Deb birthday

We attended a birthday party held at the side room in the Italian Club for Margaret's festival friend Deb. We only knew a few people but it was  pleasant affair.

Broke a tooth.

Late Thursday evening I broke a tooth eating popcorn. Called dentist on Friday morning to find they all have an extra long weekend and back on Tuesday. No pain so I can live.

Chocolates

William received some really nice birthday chocolates from a friend in Winnipeg.
