Second day in Winnipeg

Our experience with other holiday weekends in Winnipeg is that everything shuts down, so we spent part of the afternoon running around picking up things for tomorrow's supper. In fact, the stores will mostly be open all weekend, but it got us out and about. We lunched at Stella's and popped by the Kaldor/Mair house and dropped William to hang with the girls for an hour. The evening screening contained many by nearby filmmakers, including a number from Regina (Berny Hi, Matt Ripplinger) and others from Winnipeg and other prairie cities. The later screening was an animation retrospective with Patrick Lowe (passed him a Wheat Soup beer) and the venerable genius Ed Ackerman, whom I've never met face to face.
