Washing Day blues... or whites

Our washing machine went on the blink with a load of white towels in it. Probably a bearing or something; it wouldn't finish its spin cycle and made lots of noise. I wonder if this is finally "the big one", or if it still has a repair or two left in it. Must measure the stairway to see the maximum size of a new machine.
