teacher visit

This afternoon we had our 20 minute parent/teacher interview with William's teacher Mr. Black. Things are going very well. He get letter-based grades finally, instead of the always obtuse descriptive standings such as "progressing", and so on that they get up to grade three. A, B, C, D, those are things to sink your teeth into.
This evening we watched "Men in Black". William really liked it. It holds up well and, other than the swearing which is nothing compared to the Blues Brothers, it is quite kid friendly (okay, lots of stuff blow up and spread goo everywhere, but it is funny kid goo, not real life rotting flesh goo).

wow, never thought of comparing Men in Black to Blues Brothers, but now that you mention it, i can see some similarities. i don't remember much swearing in BB. was it pretty edgy for 1980?
my vote would be for BB over MiB any day. well, maybe not the day that precedes a full day of BB on loop...

Another more appropriate comparison is with Ghost Busters. Men in Black is also more family friendly than that one as it requires less explanation of Bill Murrey's constant sexual innuendo.
I compared it with Blues Brothers because we'd watched that earlier this year. Remember the scene when they go back to talk to the nun and she beats them with a ruler for swearing but they swear every time they get hit so the dialogue reads "Fuck, shit, shit, fuck, fuck, fuck, shit, fuck, fuck, fuck, shit, fuck, fuck, shit..."
